Shlomo Mintz to Slate A Cappella Performance
Israeli violinist Shlomo Mintz will perform in two concerts in Guangzhou this weekend.

Israeli violinist Shlomo Mintz will perform in two concerts in Guangzhou this weekend.

Mintz will play six a cappella sonatas and suites created by Bach, which he acknowledges are challenging performances for him. He has played the violin with many orchestras across the globe.

Beginning his career at the age of 11 as a soloist with the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra, he was later mentored by prominent American violinist and conductor Isaac Stern (who made a landmark visit to China almost four decades ago). Mintz made his Carnegie Hall debut at the age 16. As a conductor, he has led numerous acclaimed orchestras including the UK’s Royal Philharmonic, NHK Symphony of Japan and the Israel Philharmonic.
