Guangzhou Library has officially kicked off the 18th “world-stop” of its Multiculture Library Trip, “An Encounter with Belgium” on December 6, which will through January 6.An event to promote the encounter was held at a new Belgium section in the library, with a delegation from the Belgian province of Limburg and local authorities participating.
This year coincides with the 45th anniversary of diplomatic ties between Belgium and China, so the library co-organized this exhibition along with the Belgium Consulate General in Guangzhou and the province of Limburg.
Belgium is a multi-cultural meeting place located at the crossroads of Europe. Although it is not a big country, Belgium boasts outstanding cultural treasures and a unique modern history.
To date, Belgium has donated two batches of books to Guangzhou Library after Limburg signed an agreement with Guangdong province to establish a friendly relationship in June of 2015.
Ranging from art and literature to technology and innovation, more than 1,553 Belgian books have been offered to the library, making the Belgian section the largest trove of foreign literature in Guangzhou.
