A comprehensive exhibit of the work of Leonardo Da Vinci - the Italian Renaissance painter, scientist and thinker - is coming to Guangzhou on Friday (July 15) and will remain at the Oriental Wende Plaza through the first week of October.
“Da Vinci – The Genius,” the title of the show, demonstrates the full scope of Vinci’s remarkable genius as a painter, inventor, artist, anatomist, sculptor, engineer, musician and architect. The exhibition features 17 themed areas of his work, offering visitors a kook inside the mind of the man who laid the groundwork for some of modern society’s most important inventions, such as the helicopter, airplane, automobile, submarine, parachute and bicycle.
Visitors to the exhibit are invited to embrace the history, theory and objective behind each of Da Vinci’s designs and artworks through engaging and entertaining technologies. Guests will enjoy more than 200 unique pieces, including 75 life-size machine inventions, entertaining animations of da Vinci’s most notable Renaissance works and an in-depth analysis of his most famous work, the painting, “Mona Lisa.”
Italian artisans handcrafted all of the inventions brought to life for the exhibition, relying on techniques and materials used during the 15th and 16th centuries, when Da Vinci lived. Scouring more than 6,000 pages from Da Vinci’s personal notebooks, the artisans deciphered hidden clues, intentional mistakes and the unique mirror-image writing system that Da Vinci employed to keep his works secret.
Among the highlights of the show is a special exhibit based on a scientific analysis of “Mona Lisa” that revealed dozens of secrets about one of the worlds’ most famous yet elusive works of art.
