A sketch exhibition inspired by memories of Guangzhou by the Chinese American design theorist, Wong Shouzhi, will open on May 6 and run until June 3 at the Iron Curtain Gallery in Redtory.
The exhibition, entitled "City Memory", will present over 40 pieces of sketching, depicting everything from old lanes with a history of more than half a century to the sparkling new buildings that have emerged this century.
Born in the center of Guangzhou in 1946, Professor Wong is exhibiting the city of Guangzhou that he used to be familiar with during the founding of the Republic of China through his sketches. The sketches provide a fresh way of recording a city, departing from the likes of photography, painting and sculpture.
A portfolio under the same name will also be published.
