Shangri-La Hotel, Guangzhou celebrates Dual Valentine’s Day with "Valentines for Everyone" themed activities. This rare special event when the Lantern Festival falls on 14 February 2014 happens only every 19 years.  The next Dual Valentine’s Day is expected to occur in 2033.


The hotel has prepared specific set menus for everyone – singles, young couples and old couples – regardless of age or relationship status.

Young single men and women may celebrate the night with a group of buddies or girlfriends at coolThai Restaurant's Singles; Party. The Single's Tapas Menu specifically designed by the restaurant's culinary team will tantalise taste buds with six dishes and three cocktails.

The menu presents a combination of common ingredients the Thai way, including PomeloTini Salad with Crab Meat Spring Roll and Pan-Fried Cod Fish with Green Curry, Thai Eggplant and Potato Chips, and coolThai's Strawberries and Rose Tartlet is the restaurant's newly developed dessert which will be served for the first time.

In addition, a DJ in town has been invited to bring vibrant music on site to bring sparkle to the Valentine's night and guests will not need to bring a partner. The party is from 6 to 11 p.m. Entrance is priced at RMB288 per person.

Young couples can spend the night at il Forno Restaurant in mysterious and elegant surroundings conducive for lovers. Sous Chef Antonio from the state of romance – Italy – and the culinary team has created a Couple's Set Menu with the Italian perception of romance, enabling Chinese lovers to taste of authentic European-style romance that they will never forget. The team has also imported some ingredients from Italy for such dishes as Cream of Asparagus served with Salmon, in which black truffle from Italy is used to bring out the freshness of salmon. The Couple's Set Menu is priced at RMB699 per person.

Old couples, usually those who are parents, are normally excluded from Valentine's Day celebrations. After decades of taking care of the family, they deserve an opportunity to recount all they have gone through with their spouse. For them, Summer Palace has prepared an Old Couple's Menu that will be available during the Lantern Festival. Old couples can enjoy this moment for two the Chinese way. The set menu is priced at RMB688 per person for a minimum of two persons.

All outlets except coolThai will have the Lucky Wheel for couples. Winning couples will be entitled to 50 or 15 per cent off the Valentine's menu or have it free of charge.

Additionally, CHI, The Spa offers two Valentine's packages. Package 1, priced at RMB1,314 for couples, includes a 30-minute Refresher Facial treatment and 60-minute Aroma Vitality Massage. Package 2, priced at RMB888 for singles, includes an Aroma Vitality Massage and Aroma Bath, as well as a complimentary Essence of Shangri-La Oil.
