As the lunar New Year draws near, people are planning to do Spring Festival shopping. The specialized markets that spread all over the old districts of Guangzhou are good choices. If you are lucky enough, you may find your target goods on sale and save a large amount of money! Here is a map of five commercial districts of specialized markets.

Liuhua Commercial District—Clothes



There are nearly 30 wholesale markets in this district. The price of the clothes here is about one third to two thirds of that of department stores. High-end brands and the popular Korean-style of lower prices are really a bargain.

Zhongshan 8 Lu Commercial District—Maternal and child supplies


It is the largest wholesale market for maternal and child supplies in south China. Nantian Market and Lihu Building are two main trading circles in this district. A panorama of styles of children clothes can be found there and some at Lihu Building are retailed.

Yide Lu Commercial District—Dried seafood


Dried seafood street as it may be, it is always crammed with dealers from across the nation. Seafood items such as dried abalone, shark fins and bird's nest, dried scallop and shiitake mushroom are common dishes at Cantonese dining tables during Spring Festival. But be careful, there may be some stalls without business licenses selling low-quality goods. Avoid dealing with the tricky.

Bus stop: Yide Lu Dong, Yide Lu Zhong, Yide Lu Xi

Zengcha Lu Commercial District—Fruits

This road is known for three big markets that are dealing in fruits and food: Jiangnan Wholesale Fruit Market, Dongwang Subsidiary Food Market and Xinjiang Fruit Trading Market. With a competitive price, imported fruits from all over the world attract numerous traders here all year round.

Bus stop: Dongwang Market

Zhanxi Lu Commercial District—Shoes


To the west of the Guangzhou Railway Station there is a big market selling all kinds of shoes. Zhanxi Lu shoes wholesale market is a favored place by foreigners as there is always footgear of bigger size on sale.
