With May Day approaching, have you thought about escaping the hustle and bustle of the city and heading off to enjoy peace and a slower pace of life at the seashore? we recommend several spots for you to find a tranquil beach environment.

Weizhou Island (涠洲岛)

Weizhou Island, lying in the south of Beihai, a prefecture city of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, is the largest dead volcano island in China. Seen from above, the island looks like a bow-shaped giant piece of jadeite floating on the sea. Its clear and blue waters, wonderful living corals, beautiful views of sunrises and sunsets, favorable diving resorts and delicious seafood turn this island into a fairyland.

Beihai Silver Beach(北海银滩)

Hailed as the “No. 1 Beach in the World,” Beihai Silver Beach which is made of high-quality quartz sand, glows silver under the sunlight just like its name suggests. Here you can experience various water activities in the day and enjoy a musical fountain in the evening. This beach is also situated in the south of Beihai city.

Gulangyu
(鼓浪屿)

Gulangyu, located in Xiamen city, Fujian province, is a perfect place to visit for lovers. Clear water, blue sky, white puffy clouds, sailing boats and motorboats paint a colorful picture for couples. Visitors can enjoy a sightseeing tour among verdant vegetation and blooming flowers to the fullest. But one tip: It is a little difficult to buy a train ticket from Guangzhou to Xiamen, especially during holidays. So you’d better book the ticket in advance or choose to go there in the low season.

Xichong Beach (西冲沙滩)

Xichong Beach is the largest natural beach in Shenzhen and still keeps its original appearance because of not being developed on a large scale. Reputed as the “Oriental Hawaii,” the beach is five kilometers long and free of pollution. Here visitors are able to enjoy the beach, sunlight, waves and sea breezes as much as they like.

Hailing Island (海陵岛)

Hailing Island, located in Yangjiang city, Guangdong province, is renowned as the “Beidaihe in the South.” Like a rough gem, it maintains its primitive natural flavor.

The island, ringed on three sides by mountains and on one side by sea, has rich tourism resources. Its silver beach is so bright and clear that you may not be willing to step on it. When the reflected rays of the setting sun fall on the beach, it becomes even more charming.
