The GDP of 10 out of 11 districts in Guangzhou exceeded 100 billion yuan in 2016, according to economic data released by the districts.

Compared with economic data from 2015, there was no big change in the GDP ranking of the districts in 2016. Tianhe retained its top spot, with GDP of 380 billion yuan. Huangpu was second, with 300.6 billion yuan in GDP. Zengcheng joined the 100 billion yuan club for the first time, with 2016 GDP of 104.7 billion yuan.

Guangzhou reached 1.96 trillion yuan in gross industrial output value, keeping it at the forefront of industrial development in Guangdong province. There was little change in the ranking of industrial output value. Huangpu still came out in front at 714 billion yuan, more than twice that of any other district. Panyu showed the fastest growth rate despite the fact that it ranked fourth in overall industrial output.

The total value of fixed-asset investment in Guangzhou reached 570.36 billion yuan last year, up 8 percent over 2015. Among the 11 districts, Zengcheng topped the city in rate of growth at 33 percent higher than 2015, with its total fixed-asset investment reaching 52.6 billion yuan. Nansha rose to second place behind Huangpu, with a total investment of 81.3 billion yuan.
