2017 APCAC Business Summit: Keep Highlights Ongoing

2017 China (Guangdong)-U.S. Investment Cooperation Conference kicked off on April 20, the second day of 2017 APCAC Business Summit.

Co-hosted by Department of Commerce of Guangdong Province and American Chamber of Commerce in South China, the conference was attended by government officers of both countries, 150 representatives from American leading enterprises, over 50 from Global 500 enterprises and 150 from local leading enterprises.

Hu Chunhua, Secretary of the Guangdong Provincial Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC), Ma Xingrui, Governor of Guangdong Province, Charles Bennett, Consul General of Consulate General of the USA in Guangzhou, Harley Seyedin, President of Amcham South China, Myron Brilliant, Senior Vice President of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, Scott Price, Wal-Mart Global CAO and Executive Vice President are among the distinguished guests attending the Business Summit, to name but a few.

15 joint projects worth over US$ 2.289 billion were signed on the sideline of the conference, marking a closer Sino-U.S.relationship after Chinese President Xi met his counterpart, Donald Trump.

“The conference aims to further promote the economic and trade cooperation between Guangdong and the US, and Guangdong will regard this conference as a chance to strengthen communication with American enterprises. In 2016, the trade volume in goods between Guangdong and the US reached US$ 118.2 billion, accounting for 20 percent of the total Sino-US trade, and the trade volume between Guangdong and the US in the first quarter of 2017 increased by 12 percent year-on-year,” said Ma Xingrui, governor of Guangdong Province, “American enterprises are welcome to participate in the construction of industrial parks in Guangdong while local enterprises are encouraged to seek cooperation with American enterprises, further promoting the bilateral investment between Guangdong and the US.” added Ma.

Myron Brilliant, Senior Vice President of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce gave a speech: “Pearl River Delta region accounts under 1 percent of country’s territory, 5 percent of the population, yet generally 10 percent of the GDP, so that’s tremendous success for Guangdong. We hope the experiences, lessons and the successes in Guangdong are instructive for the rest of China. And Guangdong continues to be the best location for foreign investment in China, especially Guangzhou which was rated as the best city for business 2015.”

The four-day APCAC Business Summit started on April 19 and ended on April 22.
