The Guangzhou Mengxian Education Company has signed a 20-year contract with Taitung County Taitung City Feng Tian Elementary School to support the school’s financially troubled baseball team in Taiwan. The Guangzhou company has promised to provide about 80,000 RMB in financial support every month to the baseball team at the school.

The elementary school is located in Taitung County in Taiwan. The school has 291 students and teachers. Half of them are Taiwanese aborigines, and 40% of the students belong to vulnerable groups that need assistance and financial support.

Fang Yingfeng, the principal, founded a baseball team at the school. All the players on the team will live and train together at the school. He believes the baseball team will not just be a sport team but more like a home for these children. He hopes sports can bring them confidence, faith and opportunities. The baseball team began playing three years ago and its players have been stellar in baseball competition in Taiwan. They have finished in first place several times in their Taiwanese league, even though it is not easy to run a baseball team of vulnerable children. At the signing event with Mengxian Education, Fang Yingfeng expressed gratitude because he said without its help, he didn’t know if he could continue running the baseball team. The funding from Mengxian Education will be used in supporting children’s accommodations, training equipment and learning guidance.

Mengxian Education is a new company founded last August. It has been supporting 63 schools and institutions since its establishment. The company records all the information about the 63 schools and institutions in a book named Ziqiang (self-improvement).

The charity work will go further and faster in the future, said Li Menghuai, the general manager of the company. He explained that the company has created an app, using digital technology to make charity more convenient for everyone. The app lists many projects that need financial help from society. For example, a school in rural Guizhou Province needs desks and chairs for its poor students. People can purchase charity photographs with photo frames on the app, and all the money will go directly to the project of the school in Guizhou Province. The book, Ziqiang, is also one of the charity products that can be bought through the app. Li Menghuai said the book has sold 2 million copies through the app since it launched on March 30.
