Sepaktakraw, a competition in these Asian Games, has wrapped up its team part and begun the individual event as of November 22.
With the slogan "fight gravity" by the ISTAF (International Sepak Takraw Federation), sepaktakraw is a sport rooted in Southeast Asian countries such as Thailand, Indonesia, the Philippines and Malaysia. The players must have great flexibility; as a result, participating athletes average from 16 to 26 years old.
The Sepaktakraw of the Guangzhou Asian Games is competed in team, regu and doubles categories. The Thai Women's Sepaktakraw Team has already won a gold medal in the team competition.
According to the ISTAF, they will hold their first ever biennial World Cup in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, in 2011, followed by an annual series of tournaments with 12 leading men's teams and 6 leading women's teams.
