For the 13th time GIVES (Guangdong International Volunteer Expatriate Service) is hosting its annual International Food and Fun Fair in the Canton Place in Zhujiang New Town with fantastic food and family fun guaranteed.

GIVES will celebrate its 20th anniversary in 2015 and the flagship Fair follows the tried and tested successful recipe of combining international performances with food and drink from all corners of the world, ensuring it has become one of the highlights of the ex-pat community calendar.

With the motto of working "Hand in Hand", GIVES brings together all aspects of that international community, from schools to consulates, from chambers of commerce to world renowned hotels. The result is an event that not only gives everyone a great day out, but raises much needed funds for the local community that makes visitors so welcome.

This year's event is again raising money to help support autistic children in Guangdong. GIVES has been working alongside local organizations and schools to raise awareness of the condition, this year bringing world experts here to speak at conferences and share their expertise. For many years autism went under the radar here in China but it is far more recognized today, although much work still needs to be done.

The aim of GIVES is to join hands with the local community in many different ways, through sport, through music, through art, through farming and through autism support. It stands for the spirit of the four I's - Interaction, Insight, Inspiration and Integrity.

The collaboration with such a wide range of groups and organizations is obviously shown in the variety of performances shown on stage and the range of food and drink that is available.

New World, the owners of the venue Canton Place also extends its support. It is a great venue and with the Fair being a little later than normal, there will be a Christmas tree to add color to the event.

Entrance to the Fair costs RMB 20 for adults and RMB 10 for children, with immediate entry to the door prize draw.

While the Fair is the biggest event of the year for GIVES, the charity is always looking for help, support and volunteers. If you want to get involved in any way, giving back to the community that makes international visitors so welcome, please contact givesiff@163.com and visit the website at www.gives.cn.

It is not the only charity event on Saturday and many people are planning to start their day by supporting the Terry Fox Run for cancer charities at Luhu Golf Club. As with GIVES Fair, it is part of the expat calendar and another event worthy of support.

Location: The Canton Place, Zhujiang New Town
Time: December 6, Saturday, 12:00-18:00
