The British Chamber of Commerce-Guangdong ("BCC") is seeking a Marketing & Communications Manager to begin work in Guangzhou as soon as possible.

The British Chamber of Commerce-Guangdong ("BCC") is seeking a Marketing & Communications Manager to begin work in Guangzhou as soon as possible.


With around 200 corporate members in Guangdong, the BCC is one of the largest and most active foreign chambers of commerce operating in Guangdong. The BCC’s role is to promote and foster close business ties between Guangdong Province and the UK through (i) providing a forum where members can meet and share experiences of doing business in Guangdong and China, (ii) organizing regular social and business events, (iii) working in conjunction with the British Consulate General Guangzhou and other official government bodies in relation to trade missions, high-level visits, seminars and other business functions, (iv) publish a bi-monthly magazine "Focus" and (v) developing links with government authorities, other chambers of commerce and businesses in Guangdong and elsewhere.

The Role of Marketing & Communications Manager

The Marketing & Communications Manager shall be responsible for the marketing and business development of the BCC in Guangzhou. Reporting to the BCC Committee and the BCC's Executive Manager, the Marketing & Communications Manager’s duties shall include the following:

1. Research UK companies operating in Guangdong and identify prospective members and sponsors
2. Contact prospective members and sell BCC memberships and sponsorship
3. Answer membership enquiries from prospective members
4. Directory and database consolidation
5. General responsibility for all prospective membership-related matters
6. Design and arrange the production of BCC marketing materials
7. Assist Executive Manager to generate event, office, website, and general sponsorship
8. Regularly attend events with networking opportunities to generate more members
9. Assist with the running of events when required

The Successful Candidate

The successful candidate should possess excellent written and spoken English language skills and should ideally possess the following:

(a) A University degree
(b) Good knowledge of the various industries in Guangdong
(c) Strong communication skills
(d) Proficiency in Excel, Word, Photoshop and website knowledge
(e) Be able to work independently
(f) Be self-motivated, sociable and possess the confidence to deal with business people
(g) Be enthusiastic and outgoing, with an excellent phone and face to face manner
(h) Be well organized and systematic
(i) Be willing to share a workload that does not fall directly under their job description
