[Guangzhou] Parallel Economic and Environmental Development

The conference of the 'Scientific Concept of Development' in Guangzhou, one series of activities concerning 'Cyber Media's Reporting Tour in Guangdong' was held at the lecture hall of Guangzhou Municipal Government on Dec.18, according to www.dayoo.com.

"A few years ago, it was a big challenge for Guangzhou to compete for 'the exemplary city of national environmental protection'," said Mayor of Guangzhou Mr. Zhang. However, after two years' progress, the improvement of Guangzhou's environment is obvious.

Guangzhou's GDP has been third in China for 14 years in succession. The high economic growth has not stopped Guangzhou continuing to insist on the construction of environmental protection, which reflects Guangzhou's fulfillment of 'The Scientific Concept of Development'.   

Polluted Factories Moved Away from Downtown

Polluted factories have been moved away from downtown Guangzhou. The environment protection standard of newly built factories in Guangzhou, like Guangzhou Honda factory, shipyards and steel factories, is much higher than the national standard. Furthermore, 160 million taxi and 7000 buses all apply Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG).
