Life of Guangzhou - New GZ Airport Boosting Huadu

HUADU District lies in the north of Guangzhou with the total area of about 968 square kilometers. There are 11 towns under its jurisdiction with permanent population of 750 thousand. The City Hall---where the center of Huadu lies---is only about 22 kilometers away from the downtown of Guangzhou city.

Huadu has a sound communications and transportation network of water, land and air. It locates as the intersection of such national high ways as No.105, No.106 and No.107, Beijing-Zhuhai Express-way, the Outer-Ring Express-way of Pearl Delta and third North-ring Highway. In terms of railway transportation, Beijing-Guangzhou Railway---passes through the District. The Guangzhou North Railway Station in Huadu is one of the 3 railway terminals in Guangzhou. A container joint station which occupies a total area of 1000 mu and has an annual cargo capacity of 170 million tons is planned to be built. As to the water transportation, Huadu Port---a B class inland river port---can directly reach Hong Kong and Macao with a handling capacity of about 1000 tons. What' s more, the New Baiyun International Airport, one of the three major air transportation hubs in China is just within the area whose final designed passenger handling capacity will be 80 million person times and the cargo capacity, 3 million tons per year. Around the north entrance of the airport, one of the biggest air logistics center in Southern China is being planned.

Huadu enjoys a sound economic environment with its industrial structure getting further optimized. Three feature industries begin to take shape: automobile, leather and leather products, jewelry together with new type of building material, electronics and information, clothing and textile, trading and logistics etc which greatly facilitate the economic development in Huadu.

The Jewelry Industry:
The jewelry industry---as a premium trade---has already become one of three major pillar industries. It creates large amount of job opportunities and increases foreign currency income and tax revenue. To date, there are more than 60 enterprises within the Huadu Jewelry Industrial Park. Besides, Huadu International Jewelry Industrial Park with a planned area of 2,800 mu has been built in a hope to undertake the transformation of the jewelry industry from Hong Kong and Taiwan and an international jewelry trading center and trading platform near the airport business area will also be planned.

Leather Industry
Over the years, great efforts have been made to boost a powerful leather industry. The first one is to take full advantage of the "The capital of leather and leather products of China" to attract investment; the second is to attract quality enterprises and famous brand. Meanwhile, priority will be given to "Shiling International Leather Center" to enlarge its scale and functions. More than 2,800 leather enterprises have made their presence there. The Leather and Leather Products Festival has been successfully held for the past four years. Now the daily transaction amount has exceeded 20 million RMB. Now multi-national companies from Japan, Korea, Italy, France and Pakistan have settled down in Huadu. The competitive ability and product quality of both, multi-national companies and local companies have been apparently improved.
