It is the biggest comprehensive port in South China with harbor area's distribution along Pearl River coasts and water areas in the cities of Guangzhou, Dongguan, Zhongshan, Shenzhen and Zhuhai, etc.. With entrance of Pearl River opening, they are respectively Nansha Harbor Area, Xinsha Harbor Area, Huangpu Harbor Area and Inner Harbor Area, among them, Nansha Harbor Area neighbors Hong Kong. Its international marine transport reaches over 300 ports in more than 80 nations and districts worldwide. Guangzhou Port is located at the crossing of three rivers of Dongjiang, Xijiang and Beijiang with the waterway, railway, expressway and air lines meeting here, thus forming developed communication network. Guangzhou Port has convenient marine routes, ship of 35,000 ton-level reaches directly Huangpu Port, groceries ship with water-plunging of -13.5 meters and 4th Generation or 5th Generation containers entering and exiting the harbor area with the tide. The economic base is focused on Pearl River Delta and Guangdong Province with the scope extended to provinces such as Guangxi, Yunnan, Guizhou, Sichuan, Hunan, Hubei and Jiangxi. Guangzhou Port governs coastal lines up to 423.5 kilometers with 643 harbor parking positions (including 46 positions with 10,000-ton level), 23 operating anchor field of 10,000-ton (with maximum anchoring capability of 300,000 tons). Port goods turnover amounted to 215 million tons with a rise of 25.2% in 2004, container’s turnover is 3.8152 million TEU with a rise of 13.9%.
