Physical Culture in 2004

New achievements were made in physical culture again.  Succeeded in bid for hosting 2010 Asian Games and we are preparing to host actively the 8th Minority Traditional Games in 2007 and making preparations to participate in the 10th National Games. Won 14 world champions, 3 Asia champions and 59 national champions.  In Athens Olympic Games, Guangzhou athletes won two champions, one runner-up, one 4th position, two 7th positions. Held 26 international or domestic matches in 2004. Sponsored 17,000 public sports activities or matches. The sports lottery sales revenue was 579(RMB yuan) million. By the end of this year, we had 10,100 sports stadiums or spaces and 19,000 public sports sites.
