Objectives for Economic and Social Development of Guangzhou in 2005

In 2005, we will completely implement the scientific view of development.  According to the demands for creating city environment fit for business and living as well, we pay special attention to economic development in one hand, and pay special attention to the environment building in the other hand, so as to optimize the economic structure and reinforce social administration, push forward actively development pattern re-moulding of the economic society, improving the people' s  living further and making great efforts to constitute the harmonious society.

Major Indexes
Guangzhou GDP will be increased by 12%; Total investment in social fixed assets will be increased by 10%; The total retail sales of social consumer goods will be increased by 9%; Total export volume of foreign trade will be increased by 10%.  Direct foreign investment will be increased by 9%; The per capita disposable income of urban residents will be increased by 6% and that of rural residents will be increased by 5%; And the consumer price index of the urban residents will be around 2% up.  The registered unemployment rate in the city will be limited within 3.5%. The natural population birth rate shall be controlled within 4.6‰.
