BRT Cooling System: 6℃ Cooler in the Station

The BRT cooling system was put into use last week at Gangding Huangcun and Shidajida Station bringing temperatures down by a significant amount, according to Guangzhou Daily.

The cooling system is made up of dozens of water cooling fans which are somewhat similar to household air-conditioning units. By producing cool air through the simple evaporation of water, the cooling system reduces the temperature by 6℃.

Although the system does use water the fans are extremely efficient, requiring only 40 liters of per day and per station according to a spokesman for the Guangzhou Traffic Department.

These cooling systems have been activated due to critically hot temperatures measured in Guangzhou recently. Identical systems are rapidly being installed in the other BRT stations and should be operational by the end of the month.
