Life of Guangzhou - 6th GZ Folk Cultural Festival & "Polo Birth" Temple Fair to Open Next Week

As one of the four ancient Chinese temples and the only one exist nowadays, Guangzhou's "Nanhai Temple (South Sea God Temple)" in Huangpu District is to launch the annual grand "Polo Birth" Temple Fair next Friday (March 26th). Together with the opening of the 6th Guangzhou Folk Cultural Festival, the event is to bring visitors 13 performances lasting for 7 days till April 1st.

Main activities of event

1. The opening ceremony of the 6th Guangzhou Folk Cultural Festival and Huangpu "Polo Birth" Temple Fair(10am on march 26th, southern plaza)

2. Large archaistic memorial ceremony for the sea (on the morning of March 26th, southern plaza)

3. National non-material cultural heritage items performance (dragon dance) (1:00pm on March 26th, southern plaza)

4. The Third Ancient China Fashion Design Innovation Competition and opening party for "Polo Birth" Temple Fair (7:30pm on March 26th, southern plaza)

5. World Non-material cultural heritage items performances (the chorus from Chinese Dong minority nationality) (10:00am and 3:00pm on March 27th , southern plaza)

6. Launch of the literary and artistic works of the theme of Nanhai Temple (10:00am on March,27th inside the temple)

7. Worship the Sea God Ceremony (10:00am on March 28th , southern plaza)

8. Ceremony for worship the flower (10:00am on March, 29th southern plaza)

9. Special performance from Huangpu District (3:00pm from March 28th to March 30th and 10:00am from March 29th to March 30th , southern or western plaza)

10. 2010 Guangzhou Asian Games promotion performance ( March 26th—April 1st, inside the temple)

11. Folk art handicraft master competition (March 26th—April 1st)

12. Gourmet festival (March 26th—April 1st), (south of the parking lot on Dianchangxi Road)

13. Comic and Animation festival (March 26th—April 1st inside the temple)

Bus line: take BRT bus No. B1, B27, B29, B30, B31 stop at the "南海神庙站" (Nan Hai Shen Miao/ Nanhai Temple Station)
