A college student was killed on Wednesday (Nov. 18th) when she found herself trapped between two buses that entered into collision whilst stopping to pick up passengers in Longdong. The victim, an 18-year-old freshman studying at the Guangdong Institute of Finance, died on the spot of a head injury.
An investigation into the cause of the accident is currently underway and the traffic police have announced they shall give their conclusion within the next twenty days. For now, one major fact has been confirmed which is that the buses involved did not stop at the designated bus station. The location where accident occurred was about 100 meters away from the nearest bus stop in front of the Guangdong University of Technology.
The bus company has defended its drivers, saying that passengers disliked waiting at the bus station and that crowds of passengers would await the bus at the exact spot where the accident happened. Some passengers have refuted this, complaining they have to wait outside the station to avoid running to catch their bus when a driver avoids the detour into the bus station itself.
