A clothing shop in Jiangnanxi Shopping Area
The third pedestrian street in Guangzhou will be located in Haizhu District this year, Southern Metropolis Daily reports. It will be the first shopping area with pedestrian street and underground mall together in the city.
The Jiangnanxi Pedestrian Street will be 500 metres' long, from Zishan Avenue to the west and Zidan Avenue to the east. This upper road leisure area is just above the Jiannan Sunday underground mall (more info), which opened this March.
The second phrase of the pedestrian street will be extended to over 300 metres. The construction will start this September. By then the Jiangnanxi Pedestrian Street will link Jiangnanxi metro station and Grandbuy Sunny Mall together.
The traffic problem may be the biggest "bottle neck" of this project. Plan of parking at paths in and around Jiannanxi communities is taken into consideration.
The other two pedestrian streets in Guangzhou are Beijing Lu (more info) and Shangxiajiu (more info).
