More and more white-collared in Guangzhou have to take metro to work. There was room to stand in the train of metro line 3. But in the past few days, the trains were packed with people to work in Tianhe district, the city's CBD.

One of the commuters says that with the rise of petrol rate, he has to pay 100 yuan more than before for his car drive every month. To save money, he decides to take public transportation.

Consequently the buses connecting to metro stops are also crowded at rush hours, with increasing passengers.

In addition, price of foodstuffs is also on the rise.

Over 60% vegetables consumed in Guangzhou are delivered from the outside. In the total cost of each ton of vegetables, some 40% go to transportation. The rise of petrol price will result in higher rate of vegetables.

Experts are also concerned the petrol price on the mainland, in connection with global oil price, is apt to rise, but seldom drop.
