According to the Planning for Renovation project for the Taikoo Pier, the out-of-date pier, covering 7.12 hectares, of which the land area is 5.25 hectares, will be turned into an art zone similar to the "798" Art Zone in Beijing.

Officials in charge of the project said that the renovation is on its way and that the Taikoo Pier will be closed temporarily for the safety of citizens and for the protection of cultural relics. It will reopen to the public when the project is completed at the end of this year.

According to the planning, the three T-shape piers, eight warehouses and relevant facilities will undergo renovation. As a result, the Taikoo Pier will become a riverside art zone featuring entertainment, tours, historical exhibitions and other business facilities.
