The "E-way Sunshine" Summer Camp for the internet-addictive youngsters was opened in the Guangzhou Caring Center for Heart and Soul of the Young People on Sunday (June 28), according to the Yangcheng Evening News.
Experts predicted that the summer holiday is both a high-alert period for net addiction and a golden period to overcome this addiction. Up to this May, the camp hotline 12353 had received 1,069 phone calls asking for help and 41.25% of them were about net addiction.
A poll shows that, 67.5% of the respondent students said surfing on-line would be their main way of spending the summer holiday. After a selection from over 200 applicants, the camp has now received 58 students with the youngest only 10 years old.
Different from the last camp, at this year's activity, students' parents will be involved.
