Asian Games Relay Scheme Completed

On December 1st, Guangzhou delegates to the 11th Guangdong Provincial People's Congress attended a briefing on the progress of the preparations for the Asian Games and the construction of the Asian Games Village. The briefing was presented by the Guangzhou Municipal Government at the headquarters of the Standing Committee of the Guangzhou Municipal People's Congress, and presided over by Long Jian'an, Vice Chairman of the Standing Committee of the Guangzhou Municipal People's Congress. Xu Ruisheng, Vice Mayor of Guangzhou, briefed the delegates on the progress of the preparations for the Guangzhou Asian Games.

Media reports indicated that the Guangzhou Asian Games Organizing Committee had finished drafting a detailed scheme for the torch relay of the Games and would submit the scheme to the Executive Council for review and approval. Production of the opening and closing ceremonies was scheduled to begin during the second half of next year.

Vice Mayor Xu said that the construction of the Guangzhou Asian Games Village was progressing smoothly, and that a cumulative amount of RMB 3.07 billion has been injected into the project as of November 24th.
