Several foreign consulates in Guangzhou intend to move into the designated  "Consulates Zone" in Chigang, Guangzhou's Haizhu district, as the Guangzhou Foreign Affairs Office responded to the news report  "Designated Consulate Area Fails to Form Due to Location" yesterday.

According to the office, the zone development is approved specially for diplomat use. Now some consulates in Guangzhou have begun their new constructions or plan to move there. The office buildings of Thai, South Korean and Indonesian consulates are expected to finish by the Guangzhou Asian Games in 2010.

After years of development, the infrastructure in and around the Chigang consulate zone is well set up now. In November 2006, a layout adjustment for the zone by the Guangzhou Urban Planning Bureau has been approved by the municipal government.

Moreover, the construction of a building for diplomat service and management is schemed to finish by December 2009.
