As the date for entering university draws near, students are busy shopping for their new semester. Who is the most popular among retailers? The answer is the "after 90s" generation (those born after the 1990s), freshmen in college who often spend thousands of yuan in the shopping mall.

Favorites: Digital Products

In supermarkets at the Guangzhou Higher Education Mega Centre, shoppers are inundated with signs reading "On Sale". Digital products such as computers, cell phones, cameras and MP4 players are all big sellers. On top of that, girls will pay hundreds for cosmetics and clothes.

Personality: Independent

Other than shopping with their parents, the "after 90s" are likely to shop by themselves or with friends. They are often financially independent, free from parental interference.

What do the parents think about it? One mother said that she was willing to pay for these products because she didn't want her kid to feel left out or unhappy.
