Guangzhou is Ready for Marvelous Asian Games

The coming 2010 Guangzhou Asian Games are to draw the world’s attention again as this grand sports event launching in another Chinese city right after the Beijing Olympics. The Olympic Council of Asia (OCA) released a media conference in Beijing on 9th, August in order to promote the event in Guangzhou.

Secretary-general of the OCA Hussein Musallam said in the conference, Guangzhou is all ready for the best Asian Games.

The officials of Guangzhou Asian Games Organizing Committee (GAGOC) remarked that, the preparatory work for the Asian Games will take full advantage of the Beijing Olympics and the unique south China’s Ling-nan Culture would be showed in this grand affair.

Also on 9th, August, Guangdong athlete Chen Xiexia won the first gold medal for the Chinese team in the Women’s Weightlifting 48 kg of the 29th Olympics. After attending the opening ceremony of Beijing Olympics in the evening of 8th, August, the Secretary of Chinese Communist Party Committee of Guangdong Province Wang Yang and the vice mayor of Guangzhou Xu Ruisheng specially went to cheer for Chen, who is one of the Guangdong athletes.
