Guangzhou Metro to Adopt Safety Inspection

To ensure the public safety during the Beijing Olympic Games, Guangzhou metro is to launch a set of security checking procedures this Friday. The main task is inspection of the passenger luggage.

Starting from Friday, all passengers' luggage will be inspected at the following metro stations like Guangzhou Railway Station, Guangzhou East Railway Station, Kecun and Gongyuanqian. The rest stations, where the passenger flows are relatively smaller, will adopt random check as well. Those who refuse security checks will be blocked from metro access.

A 100-member professional secure team has been formed recently on standby to take actions.

According to the "Guangzhou Metro Regulation", items such as knives, guns, ammunition and materials that are explosives, flammable, radioactive, toxic or caustic, will be banned from the metro or even confiscated. And all passengers are under the obligation to cooperate with metro staff to carry out the regulations.

Besides Guangzhou Metro, railway stations in the city have employed a five-level security defense measures and miscellaneous advanced detective devices as well. Also, all buses and taxis in Guangzhou have installed the GPS system which enables the driver to easily report emergencies at a short notice.

The whole public transport system is making the most to ensure the people a safe Guangzhou during the Olympics.
