GZ's Biggest Cosplay Contest to Stage in September

The largest Cosplay competition of Guangzhou will be held in this South China city this September.

Invitation is needed to participate in this national contest, instead of conventional sign-up. Therefore, many elite groups from Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou and other cities would be invited to attend the event in Guangzhou, according to Fan Xu, the Director General of Administration of Press, Publication, Radio and Television of Guangzhou Municipality at the press conference on July 23.

The event will feature Chinese roles, not the ones from Japan and other western countries usually shown in the similar events.

Cosplay is a sort of dummy role-playing in costume of characters of comics, cartoons, games and movies popular among young people.

Recent years, animation industry develops rapidly in China. As a special ramification of animation industry, cosplay is attracting more and more public concern.

This cosplay contest will help Yuexiu District, the sponsor, to lighten its “Base of National On-line Games and Animation Industry” and promote the development of cultural and creative industry in Guangzhou.
