It has been learned from Guangzhou Municipality's Administration of Quality and Technology Supervision that it was cooperating with the Guangzhou Academy of Social Sciences to carry out the Quality Competition Index Assessment of Guangzhou in 2007 and the pilot work. The assessment results were expected to be published in October.
According to a relevant principal from the Guangzhou Municipality Administration of Quality and Technology Supervision, this was the first time for Guangzhou to conduct an assessment of the quality competition index, a pilot program. Guangzhou would assess and publish the quality competition index of various industries in Guangzhou in 2007 by organizing surveys and collecting the manifest variables from various industries.
The quality competition index was developed by the State General Administration of the People's Republic of China for Quality Supervision and Inspection, which is a macro index system that weighs up the economic growth quality and sustainable development of a country or region. In recent years, the State General Administration of Quality Supervision and Inspection has been annually publishing the Quality Competition Index of China's manufacturing industry.
The principal said that through a transverse comparison of the quality competition indexes of the various industries in Guangzhou, we would get to know their strengths and weaknesses as well as the competitive power of the products "made in Guangzhou", analyze and control the ranking of the various industries, districts and counties in terms of their quality competition index, and analyze the strong and weak points of the Guangzhou's quality competition index. At the same time, it was hoped that the problems in the quality competition index of the manufacturing industry of various industries, districts and counties could be pinpointed through the analysis and consequently come up with practical solutions to solve these problems so as to provide decision-making evidence for the Guangzhou government when formulating industrial development policies.
Guangzhou would also identify its position and continuations at the provincial and national levels in terms of quality competition index, through comparison with the quality competition indexes of domestically leading cities and the national index, Guangdong Province and Shenzhen in particular.
