Scenic, Longest Cycling Road in GZ to Be Completed

The construction of a landscape corridor and scenic forest zone began yesterday in Zengcheng, near the north outskirts of Guangzhou, announced the head of the Guangzhou Municipal Forestry Bureau.

The thirty-meter-wide forest zone along the Zengpai highway will link the Guangzhou Asian Games competition venues, sightseeing spots in north Zengcheng, and nearby villages, including 380-year-old Wenshanxia.

The whole project is scheduled for completion before the Guangzhou Asian Games in 2010.

The scenic forest zone will contain botanical, rural, waterfront, and Baishui Zhai village styles of landscaping.

To provide more diversity, the botanical-style areas will feature eight distinct color schemes, which will rotate every three to five kilometers. Flowers of the same hue will be planted together to create a harmonious sea of color.

The landscape corridor will also conceal a forty-kilometer-long cycling road, the longest in Guangzhou, among its trees. Designers have created sightseeing points at regular intervals, which will give cyclists and hikers alike the chance to put up their feet and enjoy the scenery.
