Mayor of Frankfurt Pays a Visit to Guangzhou

Mayor of Guangzhou Mr. Zhang Guangning, received a delegation lead by the Mayor of Frankfurt Ms. Petra Roth from Germany, and attended the opening ceremony "Frankfurt am Pearl River" to celebrate the 20th anniversary of friendship between Guangzhou and Frankfurt on Tuesday.

Zhang said in his welcome speech that, Guangzhou and Frankfurt have a close relationship in the exchange fields of culture, education, business and travel. Ms. Petra Roth has visited Guangzhou five times and makes great contributions to enhancing the friendship between the two cities. Zhang also remarked that, as cooperation is well promoted, a bright future is expected.

Mayor of Frankfurt Ms. Petra Roth agreed with Zhang that, visits and contacts of official and civil groups are more frequent now. She was going to bring Guangzhou some fabulous performances from Frankfurt during her visit. Ms. Petra Roth invited Mr. Zhang and his delegation to pay a visit to Frankfurt, the most international city in Germany in her speech.

After the meeting and welcoming dinner, Zhang Guangning, Mayor of Guangzhou attended the opening ceremony of 'Frankfurt am Pearl River', which is the 20th anniversary of the 'sister cities' relationship between Guangzhou and Frankfurt, at the Xinghai Concert Hall.

Since the two cities' were twinned in 1988, friendship between the two cities has continued to develop along. The celebration of the 20th anniversary of 'sister cities' relationship between Guangzhou and Frankfurt is a great way to celebrate the 20-year friendship, and includes concerts, painting exhibitions, and art shows,

Zhang Gangning emphasized that, Frankfurt is a teacher of Guangzhou in many fields, while Ms. Petra Roth, Mayor of Frankfurt hoped that, through the celebration Cantonese citizens would learn more about Frankfurt’s culture.
