Guangzhou Creative Industry Ranks among Top Three in China

The Development Report of the Guangzhou Creative Industry has been issued by Guangzhou Academy of Social Sciences, Guangzhou Development and Reform Commission, and Guangzhou Administration of Press, Publication, Radio and Television together on April 1st.

The Report analyzes over 1000 creative companies in Guangzhou Municipality in terms of operating revenues, total assets, and the number of staff.

According to the Report, the Guangzhou creative industry is divided into 23 categories of 5 major categories, among which the industrial design, software development, cartoon and animation categories accounts for the primary force of the industry.

The Report shows that the output value of the Guangzhou creative industry has increased by 30.82 billion Yuan in 2006, accounting for 5.07% of Guangzhou GDP.

Compared with other cities, Guangzhou creative industry ranks as the best among all vice-provincial cities and among the top three in all cities in China, second only to Beijing and Shanghai in terms of the number of creative companies, the number of staff, total assets, and operating revenues.

The Report also suggests that Guangzhou promote the development of creative industry by all means such as favorable policies, the security system, a well-established platform, industrial integration, personnel attraction, marketing communication, and cultural consumption, so that Guangzhou would become the leading city in China and one of the development centers of the creative industry in the world with international influences.

The Report estimates that Guangzhou would be one of the key cities for the development of the creative industry in China in the near future.
