The Qingming Festival for honoring the dead is coming during this weekend. In Guanghzou, about 100 thousand people came to main cemeteries of the city such as Guangzhou Crematorium, Zhonghua Cemetery, and Galaxy Cemetery last Sunday to sweep the tombs in the rainy day.

Staff of the cemetery said that, many people went to offer sacrifice to their ancestors earlier than the same period of past few years in order to save time for planning a trip during the Qingming Festival holiday (April 4th, 5th, and 6th).

The weather forecast said it will be rainy these days and the Guangzhou Crematorium has already prepared rain gears for the coming tomb-sweepers. The population was not decreased despite the rain and were shunted a lot this weekend before the Qingming Festival holiday, said the principal of the Guangzhou Funeral and Interment Service Center.

More flowers were sent to the martyrs

Yinhe Cemetery is a National Cemetery for civil servants and martyrs. Many citizens put flowers in front of their graves when they pass by to show their respect.

Population shunted during the festival

According to the statistics from Guangzhou Civil Administration, many citizens came to cemeteries on March 29th and 30th, a week before Qingming Festival to avoid the crowd of tomb-sweepers.
