OCA Releases Asian Games Marketing to GAGOC

The Olympic Council of Asia (OCA) signed the Marketing Release Agreement for the 16th Asian Games with the Guangzhou Asian Games Organizing Committee (GAGOC) in Guangzhou, South China yesterday (February 1) evening.

GAGOC will be entitled to independently developing the marketing for the games, according to the agreement. It is first ever for OCA to grant the full business right of Asian Games to a host city in the games history.

OCA President Sheikh Ahmad Al-Fahad Al-Sabah from Kuwait and Mayor of Guangzhou Zhang Guangning signed their autographies in the documents during the ceremony.

China's Vice Minister of Sport Cai Zhenhua, Vice Mayor of Guangzhou Xu Ruisheng, OCA's Vice President Manuel Silvério, OCA's Director General Husain Al-Musallam, and local and OCA's senior officials witnessed the ceremony.

GAGOC will launch a new package of marketing plan just after the agreement was signed. The undertakings of sponsorship, licensed business, and TV broadcasting right selling are underway.

Addresses

Sheikh Ahmad Al-Fahad Al-Sabah said OCA is satisfied with GAGOC's preparations for the 16th Asian Games and the relevant facilities including the Asian Games Town he visited on February 1.  He hoped Guangzhou could stage a best ever Asian Games by collaborating with all walks of life including business. OCA is committed to all-out supports to GAGOC.



China's Vice Minister of Sport Cai Zhenhua  addresses the ceremony.


Vice Minister Cai Zhenhua extended the congratulations of the Chinese Olympic Committee and Ministry of Sport for the agreement. He said the release was a corner stone for the games preparations. He is convinced that the Guangzhou Asian Games would be of Chinese characteristic, Guangdong style, and Guangzhou charm.

Mayor Zhang Guangning expressed gratitude for the arrival of Guangzhou's "old friend" Sheikh Al-Sabah in his address. He said the ceremony was a landmark in Asian Games history as it was the first ever for OCA to give the full business right of Asian Games to a host city. The release demonstrates OCA's trust on GAGOC.

He promised GAGOC would take most efforts to prepare and to host a best ever Asian Games, with the help of all walks of life.
