The Olympic Council of Asia (OCA) signed the Marketing Release Agreement for the 16th Asian Games with the Guangzhou Asian Games Organizing Committee (GAGOC) in Guangzhou, South China yesterday (February 1) evening.
OCA President Sheikh Ahmad Al-Fahad Al-Sabah from Kuwait and Mayor of Guangzhou Zhang Guangning signed their autographies in the documents during the ceremony.
Vice Minister Cai Zhenhua extended the congratulations of the Chinese Olympic Committee and Ministry of Sport for the agreement. He said the release was a corner stone for the games preparations. He is convinced that the Guangzhou Asian Games would be of Chinese characteristic, Guangdong style, and Guangzhou charm.
Mayor Zhang Guangning expressed gratitude for the arrival of Guangzhou's "old friend" Sheikh Al-Sabah in his address. He said the ceremony was a landmark in Asian Games history as it was the first ever for OCA to give the full business right of Asian Games to a host city. The release demonstrates OCA's trust on GAGOC.
