The copies of Guangzhou Daily are delivered to passengers for free at the accommodation venues.

Yesterday government officials, enterprises including Guangzhou Daily and Amway (China) and the public in Guangzhou voluntarily donated a large amount of everyday stuffs like clothes, quilts and food to the passengers who had been stranded at the Guangzhou Railway Station for days because of the atrocious weather, according to Guangzhou Daily.

Under the instruction of local government, all sorts of contributions and donations have been delivered to the temporary passenger accommodation venues in the city.

By 12:30 am today, the passengers that still stayed at the station decreased to some 23,000 and there were only over 60,000 were at the accommodation venue of Liuhua Complex according to a policeman. Many passengers couldn’t make sure when their trains could start off and had to give up their plan to go back home. The stranded passengers totaled about 500,000 yesterday.

A spokesman of Guangzhou Municipal Government said a warehouse is rented near the Guangzhou Eastern Railway Station to store the charity stuffs. He suggested the public should go to the Municipal Civil Affairs Bureau to make the donations in case the areas near the railway stations would be over-crowded.

The passengers accommodation venues are:

Guangzhou Railway Station Square

Chinese Export Commodities Fair (Liuhua) Complex, Pazhou Complex and Jinhan Exhibition Centre

Guangzhou Friendship Theater and Tianhe Sports Centre

Guangdong International Trade Building

Four middle schools, one primary school and another two colleges.
