GZ Initiates Action Plan for Asian Games

On January 10th, Guangzhou made an official announcement on implementation of the action plan for 2010 Asian Games

The action plan is aimed at improving Guangzhou's infrastructures and urban environment as well as the quality of services and city management of relevant government departments. The Action Plan is composed of 27 major plans related to transport, environment protection, public security, management of emergencies and climate services for 2010 Asian Games and an additional 127 minor plans.

Meanwhile, a special committee has been elected to facilitate collaboration between the more than 80 government departments, enterprises and public institutions in order to implement the action plan at a macro level. Mayor Zhang Guangning was elected at Director of the committee with vice mayors and relevant government officials as vice directors. Members of the committee include relevant government departments, army units stationed in Guangzhou and enterprises or institutions concerned with transportation, public security and other essential services.
