Coordination Committee to Be Established for Activities during the Asian Games

The 2010 Asian Games Action Plan Outline has recently been viewed and issued by the municipal government. According to the Outline, a Coordination Committee, led by Mayor Zhang Guangning, will be established.
The Outline includes four parts: infrastructure & urban environment, services for the Asian Games & urban security, Asian Games culture & humanities, and heritage of the Asian Games & urban development. 127 specific plans for 27 projects have been made out and specific departments were appointed to implement each plan, so as to enhance the environment of the city by the opportunity of the 2010 Asian Games. Member units of the Coordination Committee include the relevant functional departments, troops in Guangzhou, railways, civil aviation, armed police, etc. The Committee is to be located at city hall and a special office would be set up under the Asian Games Organizing Committee.
Different from the Coordination Committee, which would be responsible for the organizing, planning, co-ordination and command of activities in Guangzhou during the Asian Games, the Asia Games Organizing Committee, the organizer, will mainly focus on the organizing of the events and reception of VIPs from the Olympic Council of Asia. According to the needs of the games, the Organizing Committee will also give suggestions on activities to be held in the city and help governmental agencies develop corresponding action plans.
