Palace of the Nanyue Kingdom Positioned as Relics Park

During the 2010 Guangzhou Asian Games period, friends from all over the world are expected to see a brand new Palace of the Nanyue Kingdom. On November 29, 2007, the joint delegation members of Guangzhou Municipal and Yuexiu District People's Congress inspected the Palace of the Nanyue Kingdom, who said that the planning and development schedule had been preliminarily worked out. Phase I of the project is expected to be completed in December 2009 with a stone dyke firstly being rejuvenated. The Palace of the Nanyue Kingdom will be finally built into a large relics park.
The person in charge of the Palace of the Nanyue Kingdom said that various experts were invited to make a field inspection. After nearly a year's hard work, the Construction Planning of Site Museum of the Palace of the Nanyue Kingdom completed its compilation.
The Planning nails down the timetable for the construction of the museum. The whole project is divided into three phases: Phase I covers an area of 23,000 square meters from 2007 to 2009, the planning of land use of which is the middle and southern part of the site to mainly display the curving stone dyke, including the uniform planning of the front of the Temple of Town God; Phase II covers an area of around 9,640 square meters from 2010 to 2015, the planning of land use of which is the northern part of the site to build such functional buildings as Display Room, etc.; and Phase III is to be completed after 2016, including the movement of civilian residences, renovation, excavation and display of the northeastern part of the site. The relevant leaders of Guangzhou Municipal Government made it clear after inspection that Phase I of the project should be completed in December, 2009.
