On November 19th, Guangzhou City TV began to upgrade the digital TV sets equipped in taxis. After that, the 9.2-inch monitor will be replaced by a 10.2-inch one with panels specially designed for the 2008 Olympic Games. As a result, the newly-upgraded digital TV features better visual quality. In addition, what is different from before is that the displayer and the set top box will be installed together in a TV terminal, a new technology that will be utilized on TV sets in taxis for the first time. In addition, the volume key will be available for passengers to adjust the volume on the TV.

So far, about 300 taxis have been equipped with the upgraded digital TV terminals. It is estimated that the digital TV terminals on more than ten thousand taxis will have been upgraded by the end of 2007.
