Guangzhou to Add Seven University Zones

The Bureau of Urban Planning of Guangzhou Municipality recently released the preliminary public notice of the Location Planning of Guangzhou's University Zonees on its official website. This document indicates that city University Zonees will spread all over the central urban areas of Guangzhou, Panyu, Huadu, Zengcheng and Conghua in the future.

According to the preliminary public planning notice, Guangzhou will establish eight University Zonees in the Wushan-Longdong Clustering Area, Guangzhou University Town (Guangzhou Higher Education Mega Center), Haizhu University Clustering Area, Eastern University Zone, Southern University Zone, Zhongluotan University Zone, Huadu University Zone Zoneand Conghua University Zone, spreading over the central urban areas (the original eight districts of Guangzhou), Panyu, Huadu, Zengcheng and Conghua.

The Wushan-Longdong Clustering Area, Haizhu University Clustering Area, and Guangzhou University Town are located at the center of Guangzhou, and are formed mainly by research universities with facilities radiating throughout the whole country.

The Eastern University Zone, Southern University Zone, Zhongluotan University Zone, Huadu and Conghua University Zone Zoneare to specialize in higher vocational education. The community colleges to be spread throughout the city are charged with the main purpose of popularizing higher education.

According to the planning department, the development program will meet the demands for the self-development of higher education in Guangzhou. At the same time, a perfect and ordered higher education structure will emerge advancing the restructuring and development of educational resources and realizing the collaborative development for the higher education institutions within the region.
