As of today (November 5th), a new traffic administration measure will be launched in Guangzhou, China, that forbids trucks of 1.5 tons and above from using the Inner Ring Road and its adjacent roads. The measure follows the 24-hour ban for trucks on Guangzhou's Dongfeng Road.

The new adjustment has created a truck-free region in the downtown area east of the East Ring Express, south of the South Ring Express and north of the North Ring Express and Huangshi Road.

The schedule set for an everyday ban for all trucks is between 7am to 9am and 5pm to 8pm.

Statistics shows that, trucks account for only 20% of traffic on the Inner Ring Road but 50% of accidents on the road. Also trucks have become the main obstacle leading to traffic jams in the Inner Ring Road area.
