Cross-river Tunnel on Metro Line 5 Completed

The tunnel construction of Metro Line 5 from Datansha Station to Zhongshan Ba Lu Station has been successfully completed.

Metro Line 5, in this section, begins at Dadansha Island, runs across the 260-meter-wide Pearl River and reaches Zhongshan Ba Lu Station after passing the Youth Park, the Guangzhou-Maoming Railway and the flyover on Zhongshan Ba Lu. This section boasts complex geographic conditions. Therefore, while digging the cross-river tunnel, shield machines may cause damage to the dyke or the Pearl River. In addition, the busy Guangzhou-Maoming Railway may be directly affected, if something wrong happens during the construction. However, with various technologies applied, all of these difficulties were overcome.
