Guangzhou Has 1st Volunteer Patrol for Public Environment

The first Volunteer Patrol for Public Environment of Guangzhou was formed and started operations in Xiadu Lu near Sun Yet-san University in Guangzhou yesterday morning (June 3).

The team is named "Home Cleaning". Some 500 joined the patrol, including local residents and community cadres.

They are responsible for checking, monitoring, correcting conduct, reporting and promotions in the community.

The members all rode uniform blue bicycles, some equipped with cameras and notebooks. 

The team is a part of the city-wide campaign to "Clean Guangzhou, Join Hands for Civilization".

The campaign was initiated by Guangzhou Municipal Government and is expected to involve more than 50,000 people across the city.
