30 Minutes Customs Clearance for Air Mail

Now it only takes 30 minutes, 10 times faster than before, for airmail customs clearance. The acceleration began yesterday, May 29, at the Guangzhou Air Mail Center, Information Times reports.

Mail is sorted automatically according to postal barcodes and mail that does not need to be checked is dispersed into clearance passages.

X-ray machines check the mail that needs to be examined and scans the image back to the customs system. Customs staff judge whether the mail needs hand-examining or whether it is okay for customs clearance.
