Citizens Welcome the Across Pearl River Swim

Guangzhou Sports Bureau said on May 14, they would organize another event to swim across the Pearl River this summer.

Guangzhou Water Resources Bureau and Guangzhou Environmental Protection Bureau suggested if the event is held every year, the best time would be July and August. Guangzhou Environmental Protection Bureau's Chief Engineer Yang Liu said "In July and August, the water flux is large and thus water quality is good. We have been monitoring the Pearl River. So far, the statistics show that this year's water quality is better than last year."

Citizens swam in the Pearl River last summer.

Citizens expressed their interest in the event.

"This is a sporting event for everyone. It not only can improve our physical strength, but also show the cleaning work is efficient and water is clean"
"I will attend the swimming event."

As for the details of the event, they haven't been announced yet.
