Life of Guangzhou - Visiting London Mayor Expects More Cooperation with Guangzhou

The Press Conference of "Going Global- Accessing City of London's Capital Markets" is held on April 5th.

The Press Conference of "Going Global- Accessing City of London's Capital Markets" was held at Garden Hotel, Guangzhou in the afternoon of April 25th.

Mayor of London Alderman John Stuttard, Alderman and Sheriff David Lewis, Head of Asian Pacific of London Stock Exchange Jane Zhu and Chairman of "City of London- City of Learning" project Paul Judge addressed the meeting, focusing on legislation, finance and education.

As the Mayor of London, the world's financial center, Lord John Stuttard gave his advices to Guangzhou which targets to become a regional financial center.

"Establish good hardware including the offices and buildings, introduce competition system, pay attention to professional education and training, and create a fair and transparent regulatory environment are essential," Mr. Stuttard said.

During the meeting, Ms. Jane Zhu's introduction on London Stock Market drew great attention.

"Now there are totally five companies from Guangdong went public in London Stock Market, and we believe there are great potential in Pearl River Delta to have more listed companies in London," Ms. Jane said.

At the end of the conference, Mr. John Stuttard awarded the "Lord Mayor of the City of London Scholarship" to Chen Jianfeng, General Manager of Guangdong Zhongshan Branch, Agricultural Bank of China, for his accomplishments of financial study in Britain.

According to the organizer, the British Enterprises Delegation headed by London Mayor John Stuttard paid this visit to Guangzhou to promote the further cooperation between London and Guangzhou.

Two seminars on the cooperation opportunities between two cities were held for British and Cantonese entrepreneurs to communicate on the morning of April 25th.
