Life of Guangzhou - Experts' Advice on Geologic Hazards Prevention in Nansha

Research on countermeasures of geologic hazards prevention in the near key development zones of Nansha area Guangzhou City has passed the experts’ evaluation and examination recently. The research results, funded by Guangdong Bureau of Geological Survey in the geological sciences research and completed through more than a year’s investigation by the Institute of Geological Sciences of Guangdong Province, have been evaluated as excellent level by all the experts.

The geological experts regarded that, based on finding out the urban environmental and geological conditions, the main bad geological factors affecting regional urbanization, and the current situations and distribution laws of geologic hazards in the near key development zones of Nansha area Guangzhou City, the results report discussed the geologic hazards’ influences on urban planning and layouts as well as development of its underground space from the point of geological view, and proposed countermeasures, methods and suggestions for preventing all kinds of geologic hazards, providing geological information support and decision reference for the government’s macroscopical management and decision, urban planning, great projects’ siting and construction, disasters prevention and treatment, urban safety assurance, effective development and utilization of land resources and urban underground space, optimization of the ecological and geological environment, urban sustainable development, as well as improvement of urban comprehensive competition capacity.
